The choreographer put me in a "dancer" role in one of the Pippin numbers. Mainly because half of us weren't there, and I was supposed to be sort of standing in for a "real" dancer, but then she was like, you're learning it so maybe you should just do it. And I'm like, oh my god it is so hard! My thighs are still killing me from Sunday! Plus, I'm about 5 inches taller than Doug, who plays Pippin, and it just looks weird to me. But we'll see I guess. Maybe I can pull it together and be a star! For one number at least.

Doggy Babies

I'm seriously screwing with my dogs' schedule. They are used to sleeping all day in their crates while I am at work, but now I get home at 12:30ish from camp and let them out. All they do is lay around. And then after I get home 9-10ish from rehearsal, I let them out again, and they go crazy! Oh well, we can handle it.

Long time no write

Hey all! I have not blogged here for over a year! I thought I'd try it again. So, the year in review. As most of you know, Matt passed away in December. My best friend Kara stayed with me for a few months, but I am living by myself (with my 4 animals) now. School is out, and I am going to start camp tomorrow. I am also going to be in Pippin at Wayne Township Community Theater in August. Things are going well for me now. I have started dating again (ahhhh!), mostly through internet dating sites (I highly recommend okcupid.com). Thank god the online dating stigma is pretty much gone because it is great for introverts like me :) Anyway, I will try to blog more often if people are interested.

So, here's how it works:

2. Put it on shuffle.
3. Press play.
4. For every question, type the song that's playing.
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button.
6. Don't lie and try to pretend your cool...just type it in man!

I am very bad at posting blogs. I come on to read what everybody else has written, and then I just don't feel like I have anything interesting to say. Anyway, what's new in Michaela world . . . not much, that's just the problem. I joined Bally Total Fitness, which I have liked for the week I have been going. That's right, I have gone every day except Tuesday because of the snow. I am going right after work, and it really kills 2 birds with 1 stone because what do I normally do after work? Go home and eat a snack (or snacks) while watching TV. So this way, I don't go home and snack and I get in a work out. Awesome! Tomorrow I am going to try a pilates class and go in the hot tub.

My student teacher is working out alright. I don't know if I am a very good supervisor though. She is hardly required to do any sort of paperwork or portfolio or self-reflection writing for her school like I had to do, unless I require it of her. And I am just not formal enough to tell her to write some sort of journal or observation report or whatever, but maybe I should, I don't know. I just still remember how annoying all that was. And it is very hard for me to give criticism, although she doesn't need too much. And she has taken what I've told her and done it. I guess I just want her to experience all the aspects of speech therapy in schools, and just get better from mistakes and with experience. The other thing is, she really can't get much independance with report writing or the way things are run, because it all pretty much needs to be done in the same format I use just to be consistant with the kids.

Anyways, going to my friend Bryan's karaoke birthday party tonight. Yay!

I finally have an evening to update. I have been all-hours busy the last few weeks. We have had a show or 2 every day for the last week. I will not have another show until Wednesday. And then after Friday I will be on Christmas break so everything will be easier. The show has been going well except for a few pyro mishaps. There are roman candle fireworks at the end of Be Our Guest right next to me on the balcony of the castle, and a new tech loaded one of them (the closest to me of course) upside down. So the fire blew downward into the wood railing and then flew down across the stage. No one was hurt, but as I passed by to make my very visable exit, I saw fire down in the hole it made, so I bent down, in character, and blew it out. Everyone said I saved the set! I have 2 seemingly permanent bruises on the top of each of my shoulders from the plate costume. But aside from those things it is really fun. Theater people are so awesome (especially all the gay men :) and I have made some really good friends. It's also really fun to sing and dance again. A lot of the people in the show do shows all year long right after each other. There's no way I could do that with a job, a husband, and dogs. I guess that's it for now, the show is my life right now. My real job, the one that I get paid for? Nothing consequential, except that my student teacher starts in January. Aaahhhhh!

Not drunk, I swear

I'm in this mood where I'm thinking about all my friends one by one, and each time I think of one, I'm like "I really love her/him!" And just now perusing my friends' livejournals makes me feel happy. I have great friends. I love you guys! And to those of you not on livejournal, feel my vibes!

I haven't posted in a long time, so here is quick cap of my activities:

1) Beauty and the Beast is going well. I am a plate, a villiager with a baby, and a villiager in the mob (hopefully holding a deadly rolling pin). I am not dancing as much as I wanted mainly because I am too freaking tall to have a partner, and the plate costume is somewhat movement prohibitive (I've been told). It is not in any way due to my lack of dance skills because I am the best dancer in the world, baby!

2) School is going fine, nothing exciting to report.

3) Got a new tatoo last weekend - six of us got punctuation marks on our ankles to copy Matt's question mark that he did himself. I got @.

4) Bought a huge painting at the tattoo place that is above out fireplace. It is 3 seperate peices, kind of a splatter painting in bright colors. It is really tall and cool.

5) The dogs are trying to kill themselves. Tobey got a cut on his side from who know's what and had to get staples. Maddie has a little spot on her tail that would heal if she would quick licking it all the time. When she gets excited and wags her tail really hard, she knocks her tail against the wall, causes the scab to re-open, and proceeds to paint the walls red with her blood. My brother-in-law, necklessone (aka Jake), helped me clean up the crime scene at about 2:00 in the morning this weekend. It was so fun!

I think that's it. Everybody come see my show! It may sell out quick! http://www.civictheatre.org/beast.html

September 29th, 2006

I'm all by myself this weekend because Matt is off geeking in Ohio (not his usual War Hammer geeking, but D&D for a little change of pace). What to do, what to do . . .
1. clean
2. walk to the library and Hollywood Video
3. work on my cross-stitch
4. make my sister-in-law's unity candle
5. go shopping with my mom
6. go to the Fisher's Ren Faire
7. lay around the house and do girly things
8. maybe take myself out to eat or to a movie

I love hail!

Thanks to the hail storm last April, we get an almost entirely new house exterior for the bargain price of $250! (It would have been $11,000 without insurance.) We are getting a new roof, new gutters, and new siding, and we are changing the siding to blue (it's light gray now). And it increased the value of the house (along with all the other houses in the neighborhood who are also doing the same thing, but still). And, tomorrow's Friday, yay!!

An update on a couple of entries ago: Tobey is fine, my mouth is fine, Matt's mom is fine. I got the doggies registered at a new boarder for a couple of weekends coming up. This one is just a regular boarder, no doggie day care. I got them a 10 minute playtime each day for $4.50. I really hope they do ok there, because I feel bad boarding them.

Going camping this weekend with Matt's extended family, and bringing both dogs. That should be an adventure. Last year we brought Maddie. She did ok. She mostly stayed tethered to a tree, or on her leash. We also had her crate last time, but I don't think we are bringing both crates this time because we really don't have room. I guess we'll be having a few super comfortable nights in the tent with both dogs and no air matress (it broke, plus it would have probably broken anyway with both dogs on it). At least they will keep us warm if it is as cold at night as it has been. Matt has been feeling sick (just regular sick I think) lately so hopefully he will be better by this weekend.

I just tried to get a reservation for our dogs to be boarded and found out the place that they went to before no longer takes pitbulls or pitbull mixes. This made me very upset. Tobey has been there before and did just fine! It is so wrong to descriminate against an entire breed. When I was there before they had another dog who was in his own room because he was being agressive, and he was not a pitbull. Now I have to go visit new places and bring all their medical information and fill out forms and do the agression test all over again. This sucks, and for some reason I am personally offended by it.

Week from Hell

Monday: Started school - not bad in itself, just added to the stress of the week.

Wednesday: Got a call from Matt saying his mom had her colonoscopy and they found something, so he drove up that afternoon.

Thursday: Matt's mom has surgery to remove polyp. I start having pain and swelling in the roof of my mouth.

Friday: I go to an urgent care place because the pain in my mouth is so bad. The doctor thinks I have stabbed myself with my toothbrush and perscribes an antiinflamatory.

Saturday: The swelling in my mouth has turned into a definite bump and still hurts. I drive up to see Matt's mom and Matt (who has been with his mom this whole time). Matt's mom's preliminary biopsy comes back negative (a good thing).

Sunday: My bump has grown and still really hurts. We drive home and I go back to the urgent care place, wait for 2 hours, and find out that I have a mucous filled cyst and must see an ENT to drain it. Meanwhile, Matt has come home and found that Tobey (our dog) will not eat dinner and has a distended stomach, so he takes him to the emergency vet. The x-rays do not show what is in his stomach so we just have to watch him.

Monday: I stay home from work and attempt to get an ENT appointment today, which I do. I am also watching Tobey. Updates on how my appointment goes, and how Tobey is doing later.

Back to School

Today was my first day back at school. Just meetings, no kids until tomorrow. I'm optomistic this year, even though my school that is under construction is in shambles, and the special ed team this year is made up of 2 new people, another person I don't particularly care for, and a maternity leave sub until November. Our new HI teacher (that's hearing impaired) is one of the new ones, and I went to school with her at Ball State. I have been talking to her and I think she will be intersting to work with. I don't know much about my other school yet, except that the secretary I like seems to have things well under control. She was new last year, and didn't understand how everything worked, but I knew she would be good this year. I think I am going to have less kids this year, but I won't really know for a week or so when we figure out where all the kids are. Even though registration was a week ago, we always have most of the kids just show up on the first day with paperwork in hand (or not), and other kids who have registered showing up elsewhere. I am also trying a new scheduling model, may be taking a mentorship course consisting of about 8 full-day sessions spread over the year, and will be getting a student teacher in January. Fortunately I don't think I will have to move out of my room until the end of the this year, and then is should be completed during the summer. Our cafeteria is one of the first things that has been completed and it looks nice, and it's bigger, but it has really high ceilings and no fabric or anything to absorb sound. It is going to be very loud in there.

July 28th, 2006

I have gained about 10 pounds from not doing anything this summer and not watching my eating much at all. I have to catch this now!!! I refuse to put all my weight back on again. Today I started putting my calories on the self diet club web site again, which then also makes me want to exercise more. Plus, school is starting soon so I will be moving more by default. So if anyone sees me eating something bad, tell me to put it down and do push-ups!!!

My b-day

My b-day was yesterday and I had a very lovely day. I went and got a pedicure, out to lunch, and shopping with my mom and my friend. Then my family met for bowling, went to a Greek restaurant, and had ice cream cake. Tomorrow I am going to talk the a lady about volunteering for a non-profit that helps abused women get back on their feet. I would be doing child care for the kids while the mothers learn computer skills. Then I will be going to visit a friend and go to Holiday World. Yay!

June 5th, 2006

Yay summer! As of today I am officially on summer break. I am looking for a part-time job, though, and possibly volunteer work, too. I got my bike back from my brother so I plan to ride around every day and lose my last 18 or so pounds. I rode to the bank today, and went through the drive-through ATM. Going to the zoo with Erica tomorrow because they are charging half price. This weekend I will be going to my grandparents 50th anniversary party in Illinois. It will be our 1st time leaving our doggies, but necklessone has graciously agreed to take care of them. We got new phones. Even though it is the free model, it is the coolest phone I have ever had. It has a camera, and you can have the person's picture come up when they call, and you can download ringtones, and the screen is in color, and everything!

15 more days of school! Yay! Then a long lazy summer. No, actually I will probably be getting at least a part time job. I want to do summer speech which is just mornings in July, but they still haven't told me if they need me yet.

One my school's is under construction and it's getting pretty rediculus. They had to close the cafeteria a month early, so the kids are now eating in the gym, and there has been water damage to where they have been adding onto the outside, so several classrooms have had to move to random other places. I was supposed to have my stuff moved out at the end of May, but then it got changed to January, so you can tell how on schedule they are. So I will be moving to an unknown corner or closet next January, just in time for my student teacher! Yes, with no more than 3.5 years on the job, I will be teaching someone else how to do it!

Our doggies are doing well. They play quite rough, and Maddie has had some cuts caused by biting, but she seems not to mind. We try to keep them from biting as much as posible though.

Matt has asked me what I want for our anniversary and my birthday. I will have to try to think of something more creative than gift certificates.

Things are going pretty well at the moment.
